Transfer Criteria — VVISD Board Policy FDA (Local)

Transfer students must meet and maintain the following requirements. Applications are reviewed in December and May.

1. Attendance: Students must have an attendance record consistent with the state requirement of at least 90%.
2. Conduct Record: Student's conduct record shall have no serious violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
3. Grades: Student shall not have failed more than one grading period in a core subject (language arts, math, science, social studies) during the most recent school year. Disability accommodations may apply.
4. Parent & Student Commitment: Both student and parent must agree to adhere to Transfer Agreements and follow all campus and District procedures.
5. Transportation: Nonresident students are responsible for their own transportation to school or to the nearest established District bus route.

Academics and Assessments *

Please submit your most current report card and supporting academic history documents.

Kindergarten: Student will only need to provide proof of residency. Optional: recommendations, report cards, progress reports, letters from prior teachers from a pre-school or program that show readiness for kindergarten.
Grades 1–3: Students must meet standards on readiness screeners (e.g., MClass, CLI, iStation, IXL, TPRI).
Grades 4–12: Students must have a passing grade in each grading cycle in English/Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies/History, and must have scored Approaches, Meets, or Masters on all applicable STAAR exams on the Spring 2025 administration.

Transfer students must meet and maintain the VVISD transfer criteria including 90% attendance, no serious conduct violations, no more than one failed grading period in a core subject, and commitment to following all campus and district processes and procedures as resident students.

I understand that nonresident students are responsible for their own transportation to the school or to the nearest established District bus route when space is available.

I further understand that transfer students who become discipline or attendance problems may have their transfer agreements revoked at any time by the Superintendent upon recommendation of the campus screening committee and/or principal.
